New Order - Substance 1987 - Qwest 9256211 - Two album anthology; original stereo pressing, released in 1987. Cover is E- with very light wear; "compliments of...." promotional sticker on back. Vinyl is a lustrous E- with a few light scuffs; plays great! Includes two inner dust sleeves in E- condition.
From AllMusic: Substance 1987 is a double-disc set collecting New Order's singles, including several songs that were never available on the group's albums, at least in these versions. While there are a couple of re-recordings of earlier singles, most of Substance consists of 12" single mixes designed for danceclub play. Arguably, these 12" mixes represent New Order's most groundbreaking and successful work, since they expanded the notion of what a rock & roll band, particularly an indie rock band, could do. Substance collects the best of their remixes, and in the process it showcases not only the group's musical innovations, but also their songwriting prowess -- "Temptation," "Blue Monday," "Bizarre Love Triangle," and "True Faith" are some of the finest pop songs of the '80s. Although it is a double-disc set, Substance isn't overly long. Instead it offers a perfect introduction to New Order, while providing collectors with an invaluable collection of singles.
Grading: Cover/vinyl. All LPs are conservatively graded visually. Play graded if questionable marks are perceived in the visual grading. Vinyl will be graded from Fair to Near Mint with plus (+) or (-) gradations, as defined below. Any cover wear will be described in detail.
Near Mint (NM) - Like new, but not perfect (unless sealed).
Excellent (EX) - Light hairline scuffs that do not affect play.
Very Good (VG) - All original gloss, but with a few more hairline scratches and scuffs that do not materially affect play.
Good (G) - Lots of scuffs and light scratches that are audible in the play back; occasional hiss, clicks, and pops will be heard, but the LP still plays all the way through and the background noise does not overwhelm the listening experience.
Fair (F) - LP is a "filler" copy for your collection while you seek out a nicer copy; will have lots of background noise and may even skip.
