The Weird-Ohs (and Shary Richards) Title
"New! The Sounds of The Weird-Ohs" Label
Mercury Records
Catalogue Number
SR 60976
Here's another hard-to-find LP - a very nearly MINT copy of the "New! The Sounds of The Weird-Ohs" LP for your collection! This copy even includes the original inner sleeve from Hairy Records! It may be the only MINT copy available now - it's 48 years old!
The LP cover also has a red inked overstamp that reads "PROMOTION COPY - NOT FOR SALE". They must have been serious - they stamped it twice!
Here's another way this LP is rare - this is the stereo version that features the dark green Mercury LP label - and the title is misspelled! It reads: "The Wierd-Ohs" instead of "The Weird-Ohs".
Add that to the fact that the labels are special edition DJ labels - they read "FOR BROADCAST ONLY - NOT FOR SALE" - there's a copy on eBay right now for $ 89.00 and it's the widely available "over the counter" LP - not the DJ copy with the misspelled label. This "New! The Sounds of The Weird-Ohs" DJ Promo copy LP is unique and 100% authentic.
You won't find another copy of this LP easily, so if you collect Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, if you collect DJ Promo copies or if you collect Comedy - here's a special copy for your collection.
The "New! The Sounds of The Weird-Ohs" LP was a promotional album for 2 lines of model kits manufactured by Hawk Models. Legendary song writer / producer Gary Usher wrote the whole thing. The record was released on Mercury Records in 1964.
I'm listening to the LP right now and it sounds OUTSTANDING - it looks like it's never been played! Side One is pristine, and there's one single, very faint line on side two, but it can't be felt. Nearest to MINT you'll find! This wasn't scuffed around the room by a ten year old - this was carefully, carefully played and put back in the sleeve.
The cover is in outstanding shape as well. There is a signature on the back in red felt-tip that reads "Walter Brown" , but no splits, no tears and just the very slightest hint of scuffing on the front. Look at the photos!
You owe it to yourself to grab this copy of "New! The Sounds of The Weird-Ohs" while you can! If you don't, you'll regret it! I don't think I'll ever find another one as perfect as this one and I doubt if you will either.

Side 1: Huey's Hut Rod, Leaky Boat Louie, Daddy, The Swinging Suburbanite, Francis The Foul, Drag Hag, Flame Out Freddie

OUR GRADING SCALE FOR RECORDS:
"Sealed - Mint" (M): When someone says something’s “Mint condition,” this is what they’re talking about. The album is sealed in its original packaging and has never been played. Period.
"Mint" (M-): This is the highest grade for a records that has been played. The album is in excellent condition and shows no visible signs of wear or damage that will affect sound quality. Perhaps a very slight pop or tick, but almost perfect.
"VG++": The condition is very good, but there may be slight ring or cover wear, the cover may have minor seam splitting or the vinyl may have light visual marks. There could be slight surface sound.
"VG+": The LP vinyl may have light scratches or other visual blemishes, but should play through without skipping or repeating. Light surface noise and/or crackle may be present. Covers may have moderate ring and/or edge wear, cut-outs / hole punches, or a moderate seam split. We only sell this grade when it's a rare record - otherwise, these go to the thrift store!
"Good" and below: We consider any item graded at or below "Good" as something you don't want and we won't offer! The sound quality is low and the cover may be in very poor shape. We only offer albums rated VG and above unless a record is so rare that its presence in the collection transcends the poor quality of the vinyl or cover.
Note: Our grading system is not based on the Goldmine system. If you have any questions about the grading of a specific item, please don't hesitate to ask.
I grade these LPs under a 100w halogen light.
