Description

This unusual 78rpm single-sided record is a “New Year’s Greeting from Yours Very Truly James E Hough” of the Edison Bell company. They were responsible for Winner and Velvet Face 78rpm records. This one has matrix number 9039F.

Really excellent condition (N- visually), shiny surface. Played by me many years ago and I recall it played well - It was acoustic and had usual surface noise. Lovely engraving on the reverse. 

James E Hough was the Managing Director of Edison Bell and he recorded this late in life in 1924, indeed he died in 1925. He was known as the Father of the Trade of Sound Recording. On You Tube you can find a piece giving more information.
