ARGUABLY ONE OF THE BEST AND RAREST DARK FOLK LP'S EVER RECORDED-ON THE HIGHLY COLLECTABLE "PINK ISLAND" FIRST ISSUE,WITH NICE GATEFOLD COVER. STUNNING TRACKS WRITTEN AND PERFORMED BY NICK DRAKE WITH HELP FROM RICHARD THOMPSON, DANNY THOMPSON, ETC.
PRODUCED BY JOE BOYD, THE LP IS PERFECT FROM START TO FINNISH WITH NOT A DULL OR DUD TRACK ANYWHERE. REGARDED BY MOST AS A REAL MASTERPEICE OF UK LATE 60'S FOLK SCENE. THIS FIRST PRESSING IS VERY RARE AND MANY NICK DRAKE FANS NEVER MANAGE TO GET THEIR HANDS ON ONE. FEW WERE MADE AS AT THE TIME, EVEN AFTER GREAT REVIEWS, THE LP SANK WITHOUT A TRACE.
IN RECENT YEARS NICK DRAKE's MUSIC, ESPECIALLY THIS ALBUM, HAS BECOME RECOGNISED FOR ITS INFLUENCE ON FOLK MUSIC AND SO HAS FOUND ITS WAY ONTO MANY 'TOP ALBUMS OF ALL TIME' LISTS.
TRACKS-TIME HAS TOLD ME,RIVER MAN,THREE HOURS (Unusually on this first preesing the lyrics to 'Three Hours' are printed on the sleeve under the incorrect title 'Sundown'),THE TOUGHTS OF MARY JANE,SATURDAY SUN,FRIUT TREE, MAN IN A SHED,CELLO SONG,WAY TO BLUE,DAY IS DONE,
COVER VG or VG+ slight edge wear -see pictures-no writing but the top right corner has an unfortunate mark where the label was removed and a very minor split. Also, the original paper inner sleeve is present without tears, writing or marks and the Patent Number 1.125.555 and 'made in england' printings.
RECORD EX to NM nice bright and clean, no visible scuffs or scratches. Sounds Great
I am not a record dealer but i went to ask a friend who is to grade the condition of this record and this is what he recommended he would list it as.
I have tried to show exactly what condition this item is in with the photos but if you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask.
I came to own this album after finding it in a friends loft where it had been for over twenty years, unplayed. I Offered to buy it immediately, listened to it that day then wrapped it in clingfilm where it has stayed for the past ten years. I played it last week to check it is all as perfect as it was and the took photos. So, in the past 30 years it has been played only twice, and has not been cleaned!
Both labels are bright pink as new.
