If you're in the mood for some beautiful mellow music, then pour yourself a gin and listen to Nick Drake.
The Fruit Tree Box Set that was issued in 1986 consists of four albums: Time of No Reply, which was at the time "10 previously unreleased tracks, incl 7 completely new songs, plus the 4 last session tracks"; Five Leaves Left from 1969; Bryter Later from 1971 and Pink Moon from 1972.
I bought this new in '87, I reckon, and have looked after it. For the last 10 years I've had no record player and even though my daughter now has a retro one I can't bear the cheap sound from it.
I haven't played these albums in years so I cannot guarantee that the vinyl is 100% perfect - however, it looks very good to my eye.
In terms of the box itself and the covers, I hope my photos pick up some slight spotting to the top left of the main box. There are about nine wee brown dots that you'd see on old books. Also, the pink colour has faded along the top edge of the box.
The booklet is in very good condition and contains a biography of the great man and all the lyrics.
The sleeves have no rips but you can see the pattern of the edge of the vinyl through the paper. Also, there is a bit of brown staining on the back of the Five Leaves Left cover. I hope you can see it in the photo.
The box set was published by Hannibal Records. It's a thing of beauty.
