The product is a vinyl record of Nick Drake's album "Pink Moon," released in 1972 under Island Records/Capital records USA. Matrix # on runout is smas 1-9318 HA with the straight line and triangle graphic Which is noted on the disccogs description., Also known as the Winchester, Virginia/Jacksonville Illinois pressing. This particular copy has the unique pink rim label and was used as a radio promo which implies that it would be a first pressing because that’s what goes out to the radio stations from the labels. It certainly predates the era of gold lettered, embossed “promotional only not for sale”. Obviously, from the sticker, it had been sent to Florida State University radio station in Tallahassee, Florida back in the day. The cover is in very good condition, spine is strong with no cracks, overall cardboard of the cover is very heavy gauge. There is a small amount of record rash, as pictured and lower, Right corner is lightly bent As pictured.

Island records, original blue inner sleeve is included and pictured, island records, distributed through capital records, and is in excellent shape, also bears the promotional hole punch.

This Record has been tested on both sides on PRO-ject turn table with Sumiko Moonbeam stylus at 2 g and plays cleanly and was played far louder than usual to try to make sure I don’t miss anything.The sound is much beefier as expected than the Antilles label pressings from later years. Mostly, I consider the record to be VG + to VG, VG++ in certain places. The one exception is pictured , a very small scratched area that is audible in the last 20 seconds or so of Which Will and very lightly for 5-10 seconds of Horn. Personally, I find it very tolerable, but it is audible…just attempting to be thorough. Side two is clean, cleanest of the two, very minimal surface noise, side 1 has one longer surface mark ( not a scratch), as pictured and blemish as previously noted. mostly, though, side, one plays very very well.

I also took the below text from a completed sale of the same item for $499. It states The issues of grading very well And that’s what I am shooting for:

“Grading is subjective as is play testing! It all depends on the quality of the equipment you are using. NM means near mint, not mint, not new men, it has flaws. That said, if there are issues with my grading and testing, please give me a chance to rectify the issue. I will pay refunds upon receiving the record in question back. Other times, with your consent, we may offer a partial refund and you keep the record. I sell nothing that skips, unless stated. My grades for vinyl are as follows; near mint -nearly perfect. near mint minus - might have one or two crackles, excellent -hardly any surface noise, very good ++ - tiny amounts of surface noise between track or near quiet moments, very good plus some surface noise will not distract greatly. , Very good - marks and surface noise pretty much throughout but not overly distracting. Very good minus equals considerable more surface noise.”

With the above grading in mind, I would have to put this record as very good + to very good , Especially if you include the fact I am testing it at Very high volume so that Idon’t miss anything versus playing it at what would be considered a normal volume. it’s taking me five days to prepare the text for selling simply because I’m trying to be so thorough and accurate :-(. Who wants a disappointment buyer??? It ain’t about my credit score, it’s about trying to be as detailed as possible for a very important item.
