The Marble Index is the second solo studio album by German musician Nico, which was released in November 1968 on Elektra Records. It introduced Nico's songwriting, since Chelsea Girl contained none of her compositions.

Although The Marble Index was largely unnoticed when it was released, it has since been praised by music critics. The album is considered an influence on several artists and a musical and visual prototype of gothic rock. Nico continued working with Cale, releasing two more albums in the same vein which are now considered parts of a trilogy.
