Nina Simone 'Nuff Said ORIGINAL U.K. Orange Label RCA Victor MONO L.P. EX Cond

ORIGINAL U.K. 1969 Orange Label RCA Victor MONO pressing of Nina Simone’s ‘’Nuff Said!’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: RCA Victor RD 7979).  Now I would guess this is quite rare as a MONO pressing.  It was clearly rare enough that RCA didn’t see the point of printing up MONO sleeves as you’ll note that this MONO pressing is stored inside a STEREO sleeve.  I believe this is a 1st pressing of this.  The matrixes read ‘WPRM-2837-1K’ and ‘WPRM-2838-1K’.  The other thing which is worth noting about the pressing is that it features ‘raised’ labels which also dates it as I believe RCA had done away with this style of pressing around 1970.  The typical RCA sleeve of the period is also present and correct (flimsy and thin and only laminated on the front).  While the vinyl isn’t perfect it is still a superior example of this record.  I grade all my items under an intense light and I note that certain sections of the surfaces have received a light wipe which has resulted in ‘sweeps’ of miniscule hairline marks.  There is every chance that this is a by-product of the manufacturing process rather than evidence of play because it is fairly obvious from the sheen of the playing surfaces that this copy has seen very little play.  Ignoring the aforementioned ‘sweeps’ of hairline marks there is only the odd hairline mark present elsewhere on the playing surfaces.  A flaw I need to mention is a small lump in the vinyl on Track Two on Side One (‘Sunday in Savannah’) however, this is nothing to worry about as it is non-sounding (I’ve played it through to check and I can’t hear anything and it should be noted hear that the playback is really crisp).  This type of flaw is fairly typical on RCA pressings which were always a bit cheap and nasty.  The vinyl is a confident EXCELLENT grading.  The sleeve is in pretty miraculous condition considering how cheap and flimsy it is and therefore prone to damage.  The laminate on the front retains a ‘fresh’ appearance.  While the rear is still very white it should be noted that there are a couple of grubby marks near the top (these could probably be removed with a rubber).  While talking about the rear I should say that there is a number written in blue ink in the top right-hand corner (‘922’).  Some people get quite animated about such things but I can’t say they bother me too much.  I note one crease in the laminate on the front of the sleeve near the opening edge which is a product of the sleeve being gripped between the fingertips whilst the vinyl is removed.  Each of the corners has received the lightest of knocks.  There are some small laminate bubbles forming in the laminate along the spine on the front however, these are an inevitable by-product of the manufacturing process whereby the sleeve is pinched to emphasise the spine information.  The sleeve is conservatively graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.

Proof of postage is always obtained and retained.
