Description
This is a vinyl LP test pressing of Nine Inch Nails "Pretty Hate Machine". Extremely rare and hard to find, this is one of the very few made for the recent vinyl issue (already deleted!). Most are reviewed and then disposed of. This album is a legendary release and a test pressing of it is about as scarce a NIN collectible as you could imagine. NO pictures because there's not much to see, just a white sleeve and a generic white label. MORE ABOUT TEST PRESSINGS: Acetates and Test Pressings are the prototypes and test models of a recording. Before a record is mass produced, it is tested to see if it meets both artistic and technical approval. The first pressings to be run off the mother are test pressings. It is after this second approval that the record is then mass produced... first promotional copies are pressed, then retail copies. Most test pressings are labeled... some are not. Several masters can be cut and plated for manufacturing at several plants or to accommodate subsequent stamps. The first pressings of a new stamp are technically better than following pressings, and because test pressings and promotional copies are pressed on a limited run, they usually are more desirable and valuable. Even scarcer than test pressings, acetates are virtually impossible to find. They consist of a metal disc layered on either side with the grooves containing the audio material. These are created BEFORE the test pressings and are not made for repeated plays. This is perhaps the only one made for the 2005 vinyl release of PHM. Some visible dust, but no scratching, on playing surfaces. Don't miss this opportunity to own this rare collectible! Comes in plain white sleeve.
