Description

PLEASE NOTE: It has been brought to my attention that eBay's shipping calculator service for buyers may be pricing my shipping options a little too high (at least in the case of mailing vinyl records). The price the winning bidder will actually pay for shipping is the actual price of shipping. My apologies for any confusion.

This LP was not bought specifically as a collector's piece: I bought it as a personal memento the day Kurt Cobain's death was announced (April 13th, 1994: I still have the hand-written, itemized store receipt). The fact it was a limited-edition, first press, clear vinyl imported from the USA did not influence my decision apart from thinking it was "cool"; I collected vinyl and wanted to buy a Nirvana LP to mourn Cobain's death (having only Nevermind and Bleach on CD at the time), and this was the only one in the store. As such, this LP copy had visible blemishes when purchased (see photos for wrinkles, corners and visible imperfections on vinyl which do not affect play), has been loved (rarely played, copied to cassette for car listening for a good deal of that summer, alongside Nirvana tracks from "No Alternative" and "The Beavis and Butthead Experience"), and was taken care of as much as possible by a semi-audiophile, away from direct light and heat in a smoke-free dorm room and house.

I have since upgraded to the 2 LP/45 RPM edition which sounds sonically superior, and can now let go of this memento for another to cherish (besides, I also bought bootleg Nirvana singles that day ;) ). The run-off matrix on both sides of this US-manufactured 33-rpm clear LP copy end in "R1", and the black LP labels have the DGC logo at the top centre (as opposed to the European repressings which have "IN UTERO", in font identical to the cover art, in the same place). I never grade LPs mint unless they're sealed and perpetually kept blemish-free inside a sturdy mailer/case, so my NM is likely others' M or M-. For this copy, I'd give a VG++ for the LP and a VG+ for the cover and inner picture sleeve, for the reasons seen in the photos (PLEASE NOTE: the photo of the vinyl has been darkened to properly reveal blemishes, three in total which do not affect play). The LP is still in its original shrink, slit open to properly remove the vinyl (one of the corners was bent at the factory, much to my dismay upon opening). This explains the shine and "ripple effect" which appears on the LP cover: there are no such ripples on the actual cover itself. While I am listing this LP with a lower opening bid than the other "Buy It Now" purchases already on eBay, some of the other copies going for higher prices are actually close in comparison to this copy.

I and the LP are located in Canada, so shipping costs to your destination may be higher than from other sellers on here: buyer pays actual shipping rates (if your country is not listed in the shipping options, I most likely do not ship there but you are free to ask). In fact, please ask me questions if you feel they could influence your desire to bid, as well as your bid amount. Thanks for looking!
