Setting the stage:
I started to “build a record collection” of sorts about 20 years ago. I was motivated to buy vinyl because of a record player I received as a gift. What I quickly found out was that the vinyl records market is very dense and convoluted. Despite my love for music and all of its versatility, I didn’t have much direction. I simply bought what I liked to listen to, and I ended up with a “collection” of original records (i.e. first pressing) and reissues. Some purchases were of new records and some purchases were of used records, but for the last 20 years or so (subject to release date), all of the records I am offering have been in my possession. In total, I’ve accumulated just over 100 records for my “record collection”. Ultimately, these records have been collecting dust sitting on my shelves. I’ve opened and unwrapped some of the records and others are as is. Have I listened to them all? No way. I would estimate I’ve listened to about 25 of the records and some of them even a few times. Any of these records can become part of your collection now. I will be posting them in batches because compiling a discography, cataloging, and photographing all these records has been much more difficult than buying them and enjoying them. By now you can probably tell I’m not very technical with the record jargon. I’ve dedicated an immense amount of time to compiling the most accurate information to provide you about the records I am offering. I believe all of the records are in good condition at a minimum. I purchased them all from reputable record stores and not at garage sales or flea markets. That being said, I am happy to answer questions on the higher dollar items ($50+), I won’t take pictures and fulfill a bunch of random requests for the low dollar items, I just don’t have the bandwidth. In the end, I believe you will be very satisfied with your purchase. Please make sure and check out my other lots, there will certainly be something up your alley. I have priced all the items to reflect their current condition. If you disagree with my assessments please do not make the purchase. All sales items are final and I will not accept returns. Now onto the good stuff…
Nirvana:
Nirvana was a transformational earthquake. Formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987, Nirvana rose from the grunge underground to become the reluctant voice of a disenchanted generation. Fronted by the raw, soul-baring Kurt Cobain, joined by Krist Novoselic on bass and Dave Grohl on drums, their music blended punk ferocity with aching vulnerability. With the release of Nevermind in 1991, Nirvana shattered expectations and reshaped mainstream rock, ushering in the ‘90s alternative revolution seemingly overnight. Though their time was tragically short, Nirvana’s impact remains seismic. Beyond their iconic, fuzz-drenched hits like “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” the band’s unflinching honesty and refusal to conform left a legacy of authenticity. Unplugged in New York was recorded just months before Kurt Cobain’s death. This performance is a powerful reminder of the band’s emotional depth and stripped-back brilliance.
⭐️This 2009 red vinyl pressing by Original Recordings Group (ORG 034) is a limited edition of only 4,000 copies, cut by Bernie Grundman (BG) and pressed at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI). Issued on premium 180-gram red vinyl, it’s cherished by audiophiles and collectors alike for its exceptional fidelity and rare format. It’s one of the most coveted pressings of the album, often fetching a premium on the secondary market due to both its sonic quality and its scarcity.
MTV Unplugged in New York (First Pressing - Limited Edition of 4,000 copies):
MTV Unplugged in New York isn’t just one of Nirvana’s greatest albums, it might be one of the most legendary live recordings in music history. Released in 1994, this Grammy Award-winning performance captured Nirvana’s bare essence because they abandoned their usual distortion-heavy sound in favor of haunting acoustic interpretations. With poignant covers of Lead Belly and David Bowie, this record reveals a raw and emotionally resonant side of the band that fans hadn’t fully seen before. This red vinyl edition pressed by ORG Music on high-quality 180g wax and mastered by Bernie Grundman (BG in the runout) adds a layer of collectibility and sonic fidelity to an already iconic release. Collectors prize this pressing not only for its superior sound but also for the striking visual contrast of the translucent red vinyl. It’s a beautiful and visceral tribute to Nirvana’s swan song moment. Only 4,000 records were pressed. This is a unicorn.
