Nirvana, Nevermind, U.S. original PROMO LP, Geffen DGC-24425, NM still in shrink.  This is the U.S. original LP release of the groundbreaking album.  This was a promotional record given to a DJ in Seattle, Washington (where Nirvana was from), and I purchased it from him in its still sealed condition.  I opened the record years ago and played it three times all these years.  This was mastered by Robert (Bob) Ludwig and it sounds excellent.  This is NOT a U.K., Japanese or German issue or any other foreign issue and is NOT a reissue of any kind.  This is the super rare original U.S. promo LP, with the original insert.  The dead wax matrix ends in -1.

GRADING POLICY FOR LPS:  Grading is for the cover/box and for the record.  The record may have two grades, one for visual grade and another for play grade.  I have never played some of these records and some records may only be visually graded.  The grading for the record will be relative to a mint record of the period manufactured by the same record company.  Therefore, the standards will not be the same between, for example, a Japanese Pioneer/Holland Philips/German Teldec pressing of the early 80’s (which are on super quiet vinyl) and a U.S. ABC/MCA pressing of the late 70’s (which are typically noisier).  A Near Mint graded late 70’s U.S. ABC or MCA record will play with considerably more background noise caused by cheaper vinyl material than a Near Mint graded early 80’s Japanese Pioneer, Holland Philips or German Teldec record. 

SHIPPING POLICY:  All records have been cleaned on my VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine and will be placed in a poly-lined or rice paper sleeves, unless the records are sealed.  The LP will be packed in a cardboard box LP mailer manufactured by ULINE.  The record will be placed outside of the LP outer jacket so that it will not damage the cover during transit. 

For U.S. destinations, the shipping cost for 1 record delivered via US Postal Service Parcel Post will be $6 if your State touches the Pacific Ocean, $8 if your State or Commonwealth touches the Atlantic Ocean, and $7 if your State touches neither Ocean.  For each additional record, add $1 for each for up to 6 records.  (Each LP mailer will fit up to about 6 records.)  For example, for a boxed set containing 3 records, please just add $2 to the shipping cost of the first record.  If you would like your item shipped using a different option offered by the US Post Office (e.g., Priority Mail or Express Mail) or a private courier service (e.g., FedEx or UPS), please contact me.

ADDITIONAL DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM:

Vinyl Grade:  Visually and play graded as NM (after all, I unsealed, cleaned and played this about three times only); there may be a couple of faint sleeve marks that I cannot see under a strong light from me taking the record in and out of the inner sleeve (although this has been kept inside a new poly-lined inner sleeve all these years).  It plays as cleanly and quietly as any Geffen record from the late 1980’s to early 1990’s.

Cover Grade:  Although the cover is still inside its original factory shrink wrap and is solid and clean, I only grade the cover as Excellent, due to the promo saw cut mark at the top left corner, a tiny bit of corner wear from storage, and a 1 ½ inch seam split beginning to form at the top center of the cover (from the record being inside the cover while it was being shipped originally from the DJ many years ago).  Please see the added photos.

Inner Sleeve:  The original inner sleeve with the credits, etc. is clean and crisp, except that the promo saw cut also cut the inner sleeve at the top left corner in TWO places BECAUSE that corner was factory folded.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE:  that if the winning bidder requests it and is willing to pay the small extra shipping charge for the extra weight, I will also include a U.S. original cassette tape of the album.  Because I do not have a cassette deck, I cannot play grade the tape or confirm whether the tape has the long silence of about 10 minutes or so after the last track and the “hidden track” commonly referred to as “Endless, Nameless”.  That hidden track is obviously not on the vinyl because the 10 minutes of silence would be problematic in fitting into a 20 to 25 minute record side.  The silence/hidden track was also mistakenly left off the very first CD pressing by the original mastering engineer Howie Weinberg of Masterdisk.  (Please check out my Nevermind CD that I will be listing today for an interesting variation of that CD, possibly related to this story.)  Anyway, the tape looks clean but the case shows a crack and much rub wear.  I am willing to switch the case with another that looks just like it (except that the replacement case does not have “uni” etched on the case).  Please see the added photo of the cassette tape.
