Description
An extreme rarity, Suzuki only recorded two 78s in Berlin in June 1923, which were soon withdrawn with the advent of the electric recording technology. This copy is stamped "Not For Sale" and presumably used for distribution among dealers - but there cannot have been much sales: who would listen to German Lieder performed in Japanese at the height of the inflation (1 US Dollar was equivalent to 4,210,000,000,000 Mark in December 1923!) when impoverished people in Berlin and elsewhere in Germany barely survived.
To-day Suzuki is all but forgotten and she is not listed in Standard biographical dictionaries. How many copies of this record could possibly have survived?
