Recording Info: From the jacket: “This is a high fidelity recording of the most superior quality, and can be played on any 33 1/3 turntable.”
Cover/Vinyl: Some smudging on front and back surfaces, a small ½ inch by 1 ¾ inch blank label is affixed near the upper right corner (attached for a family garage sale circa 1984 – for some reason the record was never priced for the sale); the vinyl is heavier than contemporary discs and the label has silver lettering on purple, consistent with being an original pressing; unfortunately the original sleeve is missing. Contrary to the impression left by the back cover image on the Web, all the type is clear. Larger (and clearer) versions of the back cover image available on request. / Vinyl is very-very good to near-mint condition, still shiny, NO scratches but a couple of faint scuffs.

Notes: A historic disc from a pivotal R&B group and a pivotal label.As the authors at All Music Guide wrote: The Diablos with their 1954 classic "The Wind" are revered among R&B and doo wop lovers. The group had a unique sound, centered around the high ethereal lead tenor voice of Nolan Strong. Besides "The Wind," the Diablos were known for many songs, such as "Adios My Desert Love," "Can't We Talk This Over," "Mambo of Love," "If I," "Harriet," "I Am With You," "Goodbye Matilda," "I Wanna Know," "Beside You," "Mind Over Matter," and many more.
Of those those tunes cited, “The Wind,” “If I” and “Goodbye Mathilda” are all here, along with nine other classic tracks, mainly penned by group leader Strong and label co-owner Devora Brown.
From the liner notes: Fortune Records is proud to present the Fortune of Hits album by Nolan Strong and The Diablos. This is the album that their legions of fans have been eagerly awaiting. It opens up with one of their fabulous first recordings, “THE WIND,” which is now zooming to Hitdom all over again. Nolan Strong’s great tenor lead has been praised by Cash Box magazine, Billboard magazine and other music trade papers. Billboard called him, “a dynamic voice.” Nolan has many imitators but none can come anywhere near the unique and unusual sound which is his and his alone.
