An excellent little sampling/compilation of punk rock ephemera, this 7" is eclectic and bizarre enough that it would be worth buying for the novelty even if the songs themselves weren't good, which they most definitely are. Jello Biafra and Chumbawamba's live Elvis piss take "Homeless Hotel" is typical of Jello's snide, blunt sense of humor, and though it's a fun little lark, it's without doubt the weakest song here. After that, NOMEANSNO's "I Want It All" is a monstrous, pummeling song, as you should expect if you know anything about this band. On side B, LA thrash/punk band L7 pull off a gender-flipped cover of Guns N Roses' "Used To Love Her" that benefits enormously from Donita Sparks' perfectly metal singing. Finally, Gray Matter deliver a punk-rock rendition of "I Am The Walrus" that's pretty straightforward but is strong enough to make you recognize the true potential of what may seem, to most, like one of the dumber and less enduring songs in the Beatles catalogue. "Where Are They Now File" functions as a neat little blip in the discography of five classic bands, and if you're a fan of any of the people involved in this record you should seek it out.
