This is a mint stereo copy of Norma Tanega's "Walking My Cat Named Dog". If you're not familiar with Norma Tanega, picture an opening act for Joan Baez, or Buffy St. Marie, in the mid 60s. Passionate, and a bit rough around the edges. A real gem of 60s folk! The title cut would make you think it's kids song, but like Baez, she makes it dead serious.
This is a true NM LP. Quiet enough to be accepted by an audiophile, and I have audiophile standards! Nope, the sound isn't quite up to the Pink Floyd level, but the sound is very clean, and the quiet vinyl lets you hear it! The only "surface noise" I could detect was 2 SLIGHT right side ticks at the opening side 2/cut 4. Those $50 reissue LPs from the audiophile dealers should be so quiet! There is an interesting looking white "V" that you can see covering side 1/cuts 4 and 5, and barely visible on cut 6. It does not make a sound. It is not a scratch. It's a blemish from the metal stamper. Again, no sound at all. I used to work for the audiophile label, Cisco music, and we would have been proud to sell a brand new LP that is this quiet. This LP is pristine!
The jacket has no splits, tears, or stains. The jacket is PERFECT.
If my shelves of 60s folk records weren't jammed so tight that I'd keep this LP. BTW, Norma is still with us, and her most recent recording was made in 2012. I wonder if she owns a copy of this LP is as clean as this one?!
This LP was play graded using an audiophile audio system, featuring an Audioquest moving coil cartridge, and Luxman vacuum platter turntable, feeding an EAR tube preamp. It's hard to believe that some people would judge LPs on a plastic USB turntable, and consider themselves worthy of selling LPs to others. I've been collecting LPs for 47 years. I know a clean LP when I see and hear it.
