Description

 

I specialize in lost, atmospheric, and hypnotic 45s. Grading is done conservatively, visually. Check unaltered sound clips. I currently have a number of cool soul, popcorn, Latin, rockabilly, garage, R&B, country, surf, blues, funk, psychedelic, sunshine pop, mod, lounge, exotica, heavy rock, gospel, swamp pop, Tejano, townie rock, song poem, punk, and oddball instrumental 45 obscurities up for grabs. In addition to a small batch of Greek 45s, I've also listed some really fantastic and scarce garage band 45s from Texas this week.

CONDITION: F (Lotsa scratches and scuffs on both sides. "Lower Ride" plays pretty well. There's a skip that sticks at 2:00 on "If a Weak Man Cry" side - check audio. Despite the edge chip, both songs, with a bit of finesse, can be cued up to play without missing any music.)

Fantastic 45 by soul duo Ron Dawson and Robert Hill with the Soul Merchants (of "For Wes" fame). Vocal side "If a Weak Man Cry" will be of interest to northern soul and deep soul collectors - it sounds like a slowed, slightly plusher version of the Eddie & Ernie midtempo classic. I'm partial to flipside "Lower Ride," a stony soul jazz jam with flute and a very mod Los Angeles energy. An incredibly obscure Chicago disc, this shares a label and some of its credits with the Admirations' "I Want to Be Free." Eddie Silvers production.
