Description
A rare 1st Press copy of Nucleus - Elastic Rock, Ian Carr's classic jazz-rock album released in 1970 on the highly collectable Vertigo swirl label. The matrix is 1Y/2Y and the label has a large "swirl" above the spindle hole which is indicative of a Vertigo true first press copy.
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl is sparkling clean with a lovely glossy shine and one faint scuff on S1 from the run-out onto the last track - this has no impact on playback. Clean labels and spindle holes - graded EX.
Sonically this is an astonishing album. On a half decent system, there are sounds bouncing around everywhere in the room - this is blistering, atmospheric and evocative stuff. Wonderful mastering. Needless to say the vinyl plays through beautifully with no issues.
The gatefold die cut sleeve is still solid & sturdy. The all important central teardrop cut out has light rubbing and a tiny split, but overall good - the sleeves are often badly torn around the cut out. Some shelfwear & spine wear, plus corner rubbing & light ringwear.
The original matching Vertigo Swirl inner sleeve is present with some discolouration but still doing the job.
A lovely copy for a Vertigo collector or simply to own, play & enjoy in fully cleaned & tested condition.
