Description
I have for auction an original 1960s OAK Demodisc Acetate. Handwritten on the printed labels shows the artist to be THE DELTAS with tracks called "SOME OTHER PLACE" & "THERE SHE GOES" - which is borne out by the lyrics. I can see no evidence that any band such as The Deltas issued these tracks or any tracks for that matter so this is possibly unreleased. Musically, and this is a matter of opinion but I won't claim it to be a lost psych masterpiece, I would date it to between 1964 and 1965 as it is more Beat/Pop than hard R&B/Psych. What I have quoted as the a-side is the stronger of the 2 tracks, a bit uptempo and features some lead guitar work. The b-side features more harmony vocals but is still pretty good 60s British pop. I don't wish to mislead and have no means to record this on the PC but I would venture that it is more in the mould of the Searchers, The Mindbenders than the Animals or Yardbirds but neither is it merseysound - but this is only my opinion. As regards the condition - being an acetate it inevitably plays with some crackle but this is not too bad at all. Visually it would grade as good to very good - a few marks in certain areas but lots of area free from marks - there is one more pronounced surface mark but this does not appear to effect play. The a-side plays through very well (notwithstanding the starting and ending crackle - once playing it's OK). The b-side has a couple of clicks and a moment of fuzz but that may be more apparent due to it being a quieter track.
