Oasis : Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants A1 / B1 1st Press 2000

This first pressing is so close to perfect and plays with genuine quality on both sides.  In fact the only intrusion is one light click on the final track.  A few seconds of very quiet static on a couple of other tracks but that does not qualify as interference!  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is up there with the best I have heard and it is clear this vinyl has not been on a turntable very often.  Pressed on heavyweight vinyl it is great condition and has only a couple of spindle traces on each label.

The cover is STUNNING!  It has been so well preserved and has barely any wear, it has to grade as Near Mint.  Not only that but the lyric inner and insert are indeed in perfect Mint condition.  A stunning 'package' for sure!

Visual description

The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a few faint sleeve removal hairlines on S1 and perhaps just a few more on S2 but these are superficial as they have no affect on the superb audio.  You can only see them when you hold the vinyl at a certain angle anyway.  The labels are in superb shape with no marking and only a couple of spindle traces on each side.

Play grading

The instrumental 'Fuckin' In The Bushes' plays with real power and depth and with no intrusion.  It easily grades as Mint

The intro on 'Go Let It Out' has no background and the opening vocal is just as 'clean'.  As it progresses there is no drop in quality - no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  Superb sonic quality all the way although there are a couple of ticks right at the end of the fade out so I will grade as Mint- accordingly.

'Who Feels Love?' plays with sensational quality from start to finish with no interference.  This Indian influenced track quite simply plays 'as new' without any background.  Mint

The long intro on 'Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is' is basically perfect with only a couple of barely audible dust ticks at the start.  It may not have been to everyone's taste but musically this album is very strong and it definitely takes them on a different direction.  The instrumental sections are STUNNING and the vocal sections are just as strong with no interference.  Just a couple of statics on the fade out so Mint-

The piano intro on 'Little James' is 'as new' and the opening vocal is equal to that.  It continues to play with a clarity that could not be improved and the mid instrumental is stunning.  For a final track it plays so clearly and again there are no negatives.  This is Mint all the way through.

The intro on 'Gas Panic!' plays very clearly with only the lightest of background static and the opening vocal is close to perfect with barely any static.  As the volume increases the playback is stunning and the mid instrumental is a case in point.  The audio plays with great definition and resonance and I cannot fault the clarity either.  The rest of the track is just as strong so overall I will grade the opening section as Near Mint and Mint- from then onwards.  The minus is there just because of some minor static on the fade out.

'Where Did It All Go Wrong?' plays with genuine quality through every section with no sign of any interference.  Mint

'Sunday Morning Call' has a couple of very light statics on the first verse but otherwise plays perfectly.  Very Embrace like if you ask me.  It may not be typical Oasis but it's still a strong track in my opinion, not sure why Noel hates it so much!  Mint-

A return to more familiar ground with 'I Can See A Liar' which plays with great power and depth and.... no intrusion.  This is Mint in every way.

The quiet intro on 'Roll It Over' has just one light click about 15 seconds in and then the opening vocal has no background at all.  The first chorus is faultless and it continues to play with imperious quality from then on.  A bit of a psychedelic 'feel' to the mid instrumental which plays perfectly by the way and then the final vocal section is equally as strong.  A near perfect track - again the depth of the audio is so impressive.  The intro is Ex and the remainder is Mint- with just a little static on the fade out that is all.

In summary this first pressing plays with exceptional quality and barely any interference.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and with only one light click and a few seconds of very light static it could hardly play any better.  This is an album that has been so well preserved and has clearly not been played very much.  In conjunction with a near perfect cover this will add to any high end collection.

The Gatefold, Lyric Inner & Insert

The glossy cover is in lovely condition and is as close to perfect as you will find.  The only 'wear' if you can call it that is a crease line / compression running down the front cover next to the spine but this is very much a minor issue.  There is also just a minor amount of creasing / wear in the top left corner / top of the spine but it is not obvious and I only mention it to be 'complete' with my grading.  All other edges and corners are perfect and the front and back cover and inside of the gatefold are 100% pristine.  A stunning example!

The lyric inner looks brand new without any wear and the 12'' x 12'' insert is just as impressive.

The record has been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
