Description
CONDITION V+ from OCIE STOCKARD & THE WANDERERS who were an eclectic mix of musicians known for pioneering Western Swing but here, on these sides, an incredible blues turn that was recorded in 1937 in the Dallas Athlectic Club and included solo trumpet work from part time grocer Harry Palmer laying down his only recordings on Fats Waller's "BLACK AND BLUE" with fine blues vocals on this blues shuffle and on the opposite side with "TURN THE LIGHTS DOWN LOW" also recorded in the same 14 track session here on BLUEBIRD 7652 a 10" 78 rpm record -- please see photos -- this live recording is available on youtube for listenening.
Recorded on 11 September 1937 at the Dallas Athletic Club, in Dallas, Texas - Ocie Stockard and The Wanderers (Ocie Stockard [vocals and banjo], Buck Buchanan [vocals and fiddle], Harry Palmer [vocals and trumpet], Buster Ferguson [vocals and guitar], Wanna Coffman [bass], Johnny Borowski [fiddle], George Bell [piano]) had a monster recording session where they laid down 14 tracks.
