Description
For sale: A super rare Óðmenn record from 1970.
This is a 7'' record that contains the songs Bróðir and Flótti.
Óðmenn were: Jóhann G. Jóhannsson (singer, bass), Ólafur Garðarsson (drums) and Finnur Torfi Stefánsson (guitar).
The album was issued by the record label SG-hljómplötur.
The album was recorded in London in 1969 by Derek Wordsworth who also plays piano in the song Flótti. Vic Ash plays flute in the song Bróðir.
The two songs on the album are not on the self titled double LP by Óðmenn released in 1970 so I guess they are unobtainable anywhere except on this particular 7'' record.
This album is a real gem and extremely rare. I have personally never seen it for sale anywhere.
As you can see on picture number 3 the name of the song on side 2 has been written over by a black marker. There is a very good reason for that. You can see through the ink that the word written over is "Friður" which means peace in Icelandic. But of course that is not the correct name of the song. It's correct name is of course "Flótti" which means getaway/flight/escape in Icelandic. I have no idea if this misprint was on all the Bróðir/Flótti records but if not, this particular album is an even bigger collectors item because of this.
The cover is in an very nice condition. I would rate it as a VG+ or possibly higher. There in no writing, no holes, no rips, no tears, no stickers or anything like that on the cover. Please look at the pictures for your own assessment.
The album I would rate as EX or EX+. Looks superb and plays very nicely.
