The rest of us bought it for its intended purposed: to be played, enjoyed and as a soundtrack to our lives.

Some of my records got played a lot and some not much at all. Some were bought new and some second, third or fourth hand. I'm moving on my collection to the next keeper of the flame.

AUDIO PLAYBACK RESULTS

We are 50 years too late for this vinyl to sound like a CD

Expect some background crackle, and check my audio review to see how much. 

I'm listening through studio headphones, played back on a Thorens deck with a heavier stylus setting. I've given the vinyl a quick hand clean with L'Art Du Son Cleaner, and I always recommend further cleaning as I haven't played this for a long time. Bare in mind that sound reproduction varies from system to system. I will tell you how I hear it. Remember that you can return the item if you find it unsatisfactory. And please get in touch before rushing ahead to leave bad feedback, you won't lose out so keep calm and get in touch, I aim to please.

Side One: Beautiful Daddy

Ok. let's give this a spin. Pretty quiet lead in. No overt crackling. Keyboards come in, nice and clear. Bass is pretty fat and vocals clear and no distortion in the top or low end. Seems like a pretty loudish mix. The lead guitar is a bit back in the mix, and much at the same level as the percussion. Again no crackling to mention. No audible evidence of the grooves being worn. Quite a short track. No repeating clicks or ticks, no skipping. Frequencies remain clear and no breaking up or distortion present. I can't find anything bad to say about the quality of this side. I'm grading it as very good plus 

Side Two: Allah Wakbarr

Little crackle in the dead wax lead in, this doesn't go into the intro. Intro sounds good, vocals are clear, as is the percussion. Maybe a tiny bit of crackle way in the back. Then Boom! In comes that monstrous bass and lead guitar. The bass wraps the tracks like a cosy blanket of deep oomph. Vocals sound great, upfront and clear. The guitar sound is crisp and crunchy. You can imagine a gig by these guys was pretty loud and in your face, and groovin'. Again another pretty short track, uncompromising in it groove. No repeating ticks or clicks, no skipping. Top and bottom ends; like side one have no break up, and all is sounding pretty good indeed. I'm grading this side; like side one as VG+. I think that you will be very pleased with the audio in general of this vinyl. 

VINYL CONDITION

VG- / VG-

Both sides are in much the same condition. Neither appear overplayed, no worn out grooves, and a reasonable sheen on both surfaces. Each side has plenty of unmarked surface area, fine marks are present that can be classed as superficial. Each side has mild scratches, most of which are fine and short. Side one has a couple of obvious smaller scuffs, and a couple of fine but harder looking scratches of about 1cm in length. Not super hard but more noticeable. Side two has some longer mild scratches , some very short, some wavy; these seem to congregate from the outer edge with some dispersed across the vinyl in stages leading towards the matrix position. I as always have made it sound worse than it is. Basically a enjoyed bit of vinyl, that has marks, not trashed, and still looks to have decent playing life left. Have a read of my audio playback review to see if any can be heard. Both sides grade as VG-

The cover is in great shape. No splits, no writing.

New spare plain sleeve and poly sleeve will be provided.

Grading guidelines

Sleeve / Inners

May have one or more of these things:

Mint - Like new

Excellent - Some, but very little wear. No handwriting, no rips, no splits. 

Very Good - Still decent. More wear like rubbed edges, more pronounced rubbed corners, maybe little tears, might be a sticker, or name written on it. 

Good - Very rubbed corners, larger tears, handwriting, stickers, maybe sticker peel. Water damage.

Vinyl visual grades

May have one or more of these things:

Mint - Looks like a new record

Just bought it new in a shop

Excellent - Almost looks like new, some marks but no very many and they will be superficial not hard.

Been cared for and picked up non serious marks

Very good - Still looks decent may have mild scratches, and more superficial marks.

Been looked after but obviously played and enjoyed, picking up marks along the way.

Good - Has one or more hard scratch, lots of surface marks. Surface stains. Looked after but had an accident or two, may be generally uncared for. 

Audio Grades

May have one or more of these things:

Mint - Sounds like a new record

No issues sounds like I just got it home from the shop

Excellent - Really good audio, no deterioration of the sound quality. No loud background noise. Maybe one or two or no low pops. No skipping or repeated clicks.

Sounds decent and close to new.

Very good - A very playable copy with enjoyable fidelity that hasn?t deteriorated much if at all. No distortion in the bass, middle or high frequencies. Plays without skipping. Soft background noise will be noticeable but not intolerable. Maybe a pop or two and a mild level. Still no skipping or repeated clicks.

A copy to be played an enjoyed on consumer hi-fi.

Good - Playable but with more than one issue. This could be a brand new record with one hard scratch. Could be a record that has been kept out side its sleeve. Some skipping, maybe pops and repeated clicks. Back ground noise will be competing with the level of the music. Grooves sound worn and there maybe distortion of top frequencies. .

Probably a rare record that you are buying as an artifact rather than a playing copy.
