Original 1974 lp on Parlophone (GVDL 95) Omar Khorshid & His Magic Guitar – Belly Dance With Omar Khorshid. Scarce Greek only lp from Omar Khorshid who was an Egyptian musician who recorded some music in Lebanon during the 60s and 70s.This lp is an absolute killer. A mixture of funky and hypnotic middle eastern rhythms with some mad beats and percussion and a heavy psychedelic sound with Khorshid’s superb fuzz guitar playing. Some seriously heavy grooves here and it’s a great listen as well as being laden with sample potential.Clean loud tabla and percussion beats,incredibly complex rhythms,unbelievable deep spacey guitar licks,electronic sounds,tonnes of loops. If you like the Turkish stuff like some of the Baris Manco or Erkin Koray material you should love this lp.Incredible stuff,deep,hypnotic psychy grooves.Mad beats perfect for the hiphop producers.Tracks include ‘Casatschok’,’Kiss Of Fire’,’La Playa’,’La Cumparsita’,’Solenzara’,etc.Big recommendation on this one!
