Omit- Zero double LATHE CUT 7" (Deepskin Conceptual Mindmusic)
Tremendously rare self released 1999 double lathe cut 7" from Clinton Williams' New Zealand sound project Omit.Omit has always kept a low almost mysterious profile but has over the years released collaborations with Bruce Russell of The Dead C and Alastair Galbraith's A Handful Of Dust as well as Paul Toohey of Surface Of The Earth's project K-Group.
Both 7"s are MINT- (I consider all new lathe discs as mint- because the nature of lathe discs is that some surface noise will be present, this is normal to the process of making the discs)/Cover is MINT-.
After early releases on Trinder (known for releases from Sandoz Lab Technicians, Crude and Nigel Bunn) and Stomach Ache Records (known for releasing obscure vinyl works from John Cage, Conlon Nancarrow, Pierre Henry, Sufi Mind Game. The Gerogerigegege, Aube, Christian Wolff & Krzysztof Penderecki, Thurston Moore's Male Slut, MEV and Iannis Xenakis); Omit began a series of self released cassettes (initially distributed by Xpressway tapes) as well as lathe cut discs. Eventually (some of) the rest of the world caught up and releases began to appear on Azusa Plane's Colorful Clouds For Acoustics. RRR Records, Corpus Hermeticum, Sysecular, Fusetron, Earworm and Helen Scarsdale Agency.
Omit joins an elite cadre of inventive sound artists from New Zealand's underground who have helped bring the nation an international profile in the avant garde world, artists including The Dead C., Sandoz Lab Technicians, Thela, Parmentier, Rosy Parlane, Birchville Cat Motel, Pumice, CJA & Armpit, Peter Wright, Antony Milton, Witcyst, Gate, Rachel Shearer & Lovely Midget, Eso Steel, Greg Malcolm, Eye, White Saucer, Sam Hamilton, Tim Coster, Doramaar, Rain, Surface Of The Earth, K-Group, RST, Three Forks, Ray Off, Rory Storm, Small Blue Torch, Seht, Ben Spiers, 1/3 Octave Band and countless more.

Blenhiem is a town you probably don't know much about, but you should know it's home to Clinton Williams who, as Omit chronicles his life in an almost post Jandek-ian way (operating at a similar level of "mystery" and isolation) via processed electronics, home-spun instrumentation and field recordings. Omit has up to now existed as a classic case of small time obscurisim; elusive releases (his sole interview published in Opprobrium #2 listed 13 cassettes) usually packaged with painstakingly rendered outsider art pointing at what most would call some kind of obsessive freak; those who have heard or seen the processed matter first hand know better. Obscure New Zealand recluse Clinton Williams as Omit produces highly developed electronic music. This four-CD collection maps some years of his activities using analog tape and primitive electronics to produce sophisticated sound environments, elaborate compositions made from field recordings, and environmental noise. The dark ambience is somewhat similar to Nurse With Wound, and the D.I.Y. ethos gives these recordings a character that is unique; while the influence of academic electronic music, Brian Eno, and noise music is apparent, Omit is personal music developed in a unique fashion, outside of trends and formulas. Those familiar with the noise aesthetic of the Corpus Hermeticum label may be surprised to hear such delicate music coming from their roster, but seeing that they assembled such a large collection of work is an indication of the quality and commitment to exploration coming from the underground.

Under the name Omit, New Zealander Clinton Wilson has been releasing quirky electronic material since the late 1980s. Rejector is a proper CD reissue of a CD-Rom that originally came out on Wilson's own Sysecular label, and like Omit's other works, it consists of abstract electronic sounds created with tape loops, homemade analog synthesizers, and various effects. The CD has a mysterious tone to it, with strange rhythm loops of pulses, clicks and beeps; droning synth tones; and other strange sounds -- from the crunching noises in "Timer-run," to the distorted vocal loop on "NanoPut." One could compare it to 1970's German electronic musicians like Conrad Schnitzler; or to the post-industrial sounds of Nurse With Wound; or even to contemporaries like Stimulus and Irr. App. Ext., but that doesn't really do justice to Omit's originality. The music is creepy and desolate, and at times claustrophobic, as it paints bleak sound-scapes that are both futuristic and primitive. Rejector is one of Omit's more focused efforts, with clearer sound, more rhythmic components, and less abstract meandering, but this only strengthens the dark beauty of the music.
About feedback. All the years I've been on eBay I've had no negative feedback; I strive to provide courteous service. On Oct 10, 2012 I received negative feedback from an person who bought a vinyl 7" (listed & identified as vinyl). Surprised he received a record rather than a CD he left negative feedback without contacting me. He suggested I was a fool for selling vinyl (advising no one has turntables anymore). While eBay took offense at his wording & removed the text of his feedback as inappropriate, they advised the rating wasn't subject to removal as it was his opinion. I stand by my feedback from all the other good people who have bought from me and from whom I have bought items in the past and since.
