Description
ON ANY SUNDAY (1971) Music by DOMINIC FRONTIERE -PROMO - "ON ANY SUNDAY" is a documentary following the lives of motorcycle racers and racing enthusiasts, including actor Steve McQueen. First asking the question "Why do they do it?" this film looks at the people who devote their lives to racing on tracks and off-road courses around the world.
There are liner notes by Steve McQueen, filmmaker Bruce Brown and composer DOMINIC FRONTIERE, who states that he not only has never ridden a motorcycle in his life but is also a car-hater. What he is, though, is a multi-engine,instrument-rated private pilot and he felt he knew instantly what Brown was trying to achieve with his biker film.
The score was recorded in Hollywood, with an "A" list of musicians, and with vocalists Jackie Ward, John Bahler, Ron Hicklin, Gene Moreford and Sally Stevens, Sally also wrote the lyrics to the title song. Some of the musicians are Tommy Tedesco, Dennis Budimer, Tommy Morgan, Mike Melvoin, Pete Condoli, Dick Nash, Tom Scott and among others, the composer himself on the 'Rocksichord'.
The selections are: ON ANY SUNDAY, THE END OF LOVE, STRETCHIN' OUT, ON ANY SUNDAY, SUNDAY DRIVIN', I BELIEVED, HINDSIGHT, MESSIN' AROUND, THEME FOR THE CHAMPIONS, CROSS COUNTRY, WIDOW MAKER and once more, ON ANY SUNDAY.
The recording is on BELL Records, number 1206 (STEREO) and is a white label PROMOTIONAL copy meant for radio stations. The vinyl itself is in LIKE NEW condition, and the cover is fine other than some minor wear at the four corners, most likely from years of shelf storage. Overall, it looks just fine as you can see from the pictures.
