OPEN SKY UNIT * Belgian Fusion LP

Original 1974 LP from BELGIUM on:
DUCHESNE Records#DD 8001

TRACKS: Open sky / At man / Valerie b/w Sunshine star / Pass on and compasion / Valerie (only the melody)

MUSICIANS: Jacques Pelzer (Sax, Flute) / Steve Houben (Sax, Flute)  /Ron Wilson (Fender Rhodes) / Janot Buchem (Bass) / Michel Grailler (Percussions) / Micheline Pelzer (Drums)

Ultra rare jazz funk self production from Liege, Belgium on the tiny label Duchesne records, just a few hundred were issued, impossible to find nowadays. The band was led by jazz Belgian legend Jacques Pelzer, but the real highlight is the groovy soulful Fender Rhodes work on the album, played by Ron Wilson (American born) who wrote all the tracks and vocals on the set. The album includes Wilson's sublime groover "Sunshine Star", a very hip bit of jazz funk, plus the tunes "Open Sky", "At Man", "Passion & Compassion", and "Valerie". A great album of keyboard riffs, breaks and choppy grooves.
This is very first original release issued in tiny quantities (500 copies at the max) with the orange, black and white "open" cover, was reissued years latter with a xerox cover.

Listen to the audio clips below (Right Click, then 'Save target as' to download or simply click on link):
Sunshine star
Open sky
At man
Audio is taken directly from vinyl, recorded in 56 kbps only in order to reduce download times. This means the sound might be a bit dull. The record sounds much clearer!

Condition (Cover graded first, record second):
G/G
Plays (far) better than its visual condition, listen by yourself, please.
Ring wear, creases on cover. Writing & sticker from the shop where it was bought on back cover. Writing (2 letters) on B-side label.

Record Grading System:
M: (Mint=as new, unplayed)
EX: (Excellent=near a perfect copy, played only a few times)
VG: (Very Good=The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches, nothing really serious.
G: (Good=played a lot, surface noises in the quieter moments, no jumps, skips, hisses, etc.. Still a good copy for djing)

Picture Sleeve Grading System:
M: (Mint=as new)
EX: (Excellent=has no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect).
VG (Very good=will have some slight wear, lightly turn-up corners, decent writing on or a slight seam-split).
G: (Good=may have heavy writing on, seam splits, tape, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object).
F: (Fair=the cover barely keeps the record inside it).

I list records both in U.K. pounds and in U.S. dollars, sometimes in Euros. This shouldn't stop anyone to place a bid, I mean you're welcome to combine purchases whatever the currency is!
