All collectors of UK Psych/Prog will know exactly what this is. The impossibly rare single from Orange Bicycle that pretty much defines psych. No sound more Psych than this beauty! Puzzlingly, "Hyacinth Threads" sold in tiny quantities and original copies so rarely ever turn up . Well here for auction is such a famous rarity.
A swirling whirling driving cacophony of harpsichord, wild drumming and impossibly layered vocals "Hyacinth Threads" can stand toe to toe with any record by any band from the period. This is pure, peak 1967.
The vinyl I would judge as true VG+ which means there are some hairlines and very minor scuffs but nothing damaging or deep and that might repeat as a scratch or hinder the listening experience. It is as lush and full as it must have sounded to those few who truly knew the real scene almost 55 years ago.
The Columbia labels are unfaded, the black and silver deep and bold. There is no sticker damage rips or writing. The record comes with its completely intact original birth sleeve. A truly historic find.
This is a genuinely rare opportunity to own one of the acknowledged cornerstones of prog/psych. On top of everything else it is SUCH a great tune. It was probably too breathless inventive & crazed to be a hit even back then but, just like 67, all those who hear it today will acknowledge its absolute genius. What a record!
