HOW ABOUT a beautiful master pressing of acoustic OKeh Chicago matrix no. 9536-A, "ORIENTAL STRUT," by LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS HOT FIVE? This 1940s Australian reissue uses the original 1926 metal part for this side, and it is pressed on quiet, solid-stock shellac. Remarkable!
The other side, "MY HEART," is a dubbing, though a very good one. This was the first side from Louis' first session as a leader, in November, 1925.
I know you don't need a reminder of the personnel of this classic band. I just like typing the names! LOUIS ARMSTRONG (cornet), KID ORY (trombone), JOHNNY DODDS (clarinet), LILLIAN HARDIN ARMSTRONG (piano) and JOHNNY ST. CYR (banjo).
This original ca. 1945 Australian Columbia DO-2434 is in lovely E condition. The label was purposely defaced, to satisfy some arcane import law in the '40s.
