Description

Wow! Up for auction is an original Brazilian pressing of Tim Maia's legendary Racional (volume 1) record on Seroma records. Maia recorded and released the album in 1975, and a second volume as well, to raise money for the religion/cult he had joined, the Rational Culture. The records are inspired by and preach the book on which the Rational Culture was based, Universo em Desencanto (Universe in Disenchantment). Since Tim Maia was already a success, he created the record label Seroma to release the Racional records so all profits would go to the cult. When he finally left, he prohibited the cult from ever re-releasing or using the two records. They were never re-issued on vinyl and are both very hard to find. 
This is a wonderful copy of this rare gem!! The sleeve is typical of older low budget Brazilian records - it is stained in some places (see pics) and has clear ring wear. No seam splits, rips, or writing on it. I would grade it as VG or G to be safe. The lyrics insert is, as you can see, ripped on the right side and very creased. But still cool to have! The record plays beautifully. It has some surface scuffs but nothing that affects play. I rate it VG+ - it seriously plays and sounds great. Great condition for its age and travel through the years!
