Description

This is the original 45rpm Sun Record Co release of "Blue Suede Shoes" by Carl Perkins on January 1st, 1956 - the first million seller for the company Elvis Presley had recorded for before his contract was sold by Sam Phillips to RCA Victor in November 1955.

It comes with an original Sun Record sleeve, is in very good condition and plays perfectly with that distinctive Sun sound. On a scale of 1 to 10 it ranks as about 7. The labels are clean with only a small pen mark on the "Honey Don't" side. The trail off etchings are  U-176 -45 and U-177-45 and it has the delta marking 8053 on the "Honey Don't" side indicating a Los Angeles (West Coast) pressing. Sam Phillips at Sun has long since dispensed with Plastic Products in Memphis as his pressing plant.

Complete with Sun sleeve and a polythene outer cover to keep in this condition.

A true icon of American "musicana" this is the original 1956 pressing and the record Elvis would have recorded had he stayed at Sun. Here is an opportunity to buy here in the UK without importing from the States and incurring VAT and customs excise duty, although I will post worldwide.

It was produced in 78rpm format also, as was usual for the time, during the crossover period in the USA. Here is the "safer for delivery" 45rpm original version released at the same time in January 1956.
