Description
This is an Original 1966 Mono "Yesterday...and Today" Butcher LP that was professionally peeled and restored by noted Beatles expert Gary Hein of Hein's Rare Collectibles. The album is a #6 (West Coast/Los Angeles) variation and includes a signed document of verification/certification with foil seal, a photo of the LP cover before it was peeled/restored and a copy of the original 1966 Capitol recall letter.
This is a excellent peeled example of this rare, controversial and collectible cover which comes from the vault of a 30-year Beatle collector. The front cover is visually stunning and much nicer than 95% of the most peeled Butchers offered for sale on Ebay. The title spine and top and bottom spines are completely intact with some slight corner rounding. The back cover is absolutely gorgeous and bright white with no staining, writing, etc. Check other posted Butchers carefully and you'll usually find a deal-breaker--i.e. places where the cover has been torn down to the cardboard, writing/staining on the butcher surface, and the tell-tale sign of a homemade peel job: a "haze" of paper still left on the top cover. Most of these improperly peeled covers cannot be repaired since the top paper has "fused" to the Butcher below from steaming with an iron or using the wrong solvents.
When presented to Mr. Hein for restoration, the original cover had a section of the bottom butcher photo torn and/or missing in places. To remedy this, a roughly 1 1/4" strip from another Butcher cover was professionally spliced in (from a distance of 12 or so inches this is not visually noticeable). Matted and framed, this would be an incredible piece and the cornerstone of any serious Beatles collection (Mr. Hein's current fee for peeling and restoration of this nature is $550).
LP cover comes in a Japanese resealable sleeve with archival grade mylar outer sleeve to hold the additional certification documents. Don't miss out on your chance to own one of the finest peeled Butcher covers on Ebay.
