Hi All, for your consideration we have:
Title: RUBBER SOUL BY THE BEATLES
Cat No: PMC 1267 – MONO
Issue: 1965 UK issue on the B&Y PARLOPHONE LABEL; Gramophone rim text and Sold in the UK.
Matrix Nos: Side 1 – XEX–579-1 – Side 2 – XEX-580 – 1 (Loud Cut Matrix)
Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades as VG+; the vinyl has retained some of its gloss and sheen and is overall presentable. The disc is clean overall with a few light scratches and marks, most being on side 2; nothing too serious and certainly nothing that affects play. .
Vinyl Condition Playback: The playback grades as VG+; minor static at the run-in on side 1, thereafter, mild audible static and occasional clicks and pops. Side 2 the clicks and pops are a bit more audible, particularly during Michele. Overall however, even between most of the tracks it’s quite silent for most part and there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The vinyl lays flat on the turntable and plays through with no skips or jumps.
Label Condition: VG+; as you can see in the pics minimal spindle marks and no other blemishes. Some minor wear around the spindle hole but this is fairly minimal - all the text is clear and legible, the yellow Parlophone text on side one is ever so slightly grubby.
Cover Front: The G & L front cover grades as VG; the laminated front is clean and in pretty good shape. The lamination is good with mild and gentle folds in places and a few small creases near the spine edge. There is a little loss of laminate near to corners but all seam edges are clean and well defined.
Cover Back: The unlaminated back cover is as for the front VG; damage free and clean with no writing blemishes rips or tears at all. The white areas are surprisingly clean and are turning cream. All the flip-backs are neat and secure.
Spine: The spine is EX, The spine has retained good shape, good square edge, no splits and all text is clear and legible. There’s still a little of the pinched corners maintained.
Corners: all a little bumped and ever so slightly rounded-off and a bit of colour loss; the two open edge ones being a little worse, but even these are fine.
Opening Edge: the opening edge as a few bumps and dents from normal use – nothing to drastic and all being commensurate with careful handling for 47 yrs!
Summary: A nice example of this fab album from the Fabs. It’s the rarer and more desirable Loud Cut Matrix which is a bit more elusive and is getting difficult to find in decent shape. It’s not a minter but it is VG+ as a package and as such it would make a nice addition to any collection.
