Up for auction here at NO RESERVE is "The Legendary Collection (1927-'34, '41)" by the Original Carter Family on the Japanese RCA Victor label, catalog # RA-5641-50. The LPs are all NM and appear unplayed. The booklet is NM-. The box has a faded spine (and the fading wraps around a little too the front and back. The spine is also cracked about an inch on bottom and an inch and a half on top. There is some wear and a thin brown stain down the front. The box is not great, but it performed its' duty of protecting the contents. This is a body of work that is one of the most important in all of recorded music. This is the roots of the great tree of country music. They were not the only purveyors of this music, just one of the best groups and therefore the most recorded. Any collection of country music or pop music in general without this collection is quite frankly incomplete. Have I made my opinion clear. This set is awesome, and it is rarely offered for sale, so wait for a nicer box if you must, but I would suggest you get it while it's here.
