Description
Hi All, I’ve sorted out a few choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. OK for your consideration we have:
Title: ROGER THE ENGINEER by THE YARDBIRDS
Cat No: SX 6063 – MONO
Issue: Original 1966 issue on the BLUE & BLACK COLUMBIA Label
Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades as VG-; the vinyl is slightly dull in appearance retaining minimal gloss and sheen. There are numerous light scratches and marks to both sides all being commensurate with age and grade. All in all however, it’s worthy of the VG grade.
Vinyl Condition Playback: In terms of playback, the vinyl grades as VG; some mild static crackling/pops can be heard throughout the playback but nothing too drastic and all commensurate with grade. It’s a little more prominent at the run-ins and between the tracks, but even with headphones on it is a very rewarding listen with no skip, jumps or alarming clicks. The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable and overall the playback is a strong VG with minimal lessening of sound quality.
Label Condition: VG; as you can see in the phots minimal spindle marks and minor marks from careful handling; no major rips or damage at all to the labels. The silver script is clean and legible.
Cover Front: The front cover Grades as VG; the laminated front is clean and has retained its shape quite well. The central image is clear and the lamination is VG. The top seam is split/worn through for about 1 inch – see photo and there are a few gentle/mild laminate wrinkles etc.
Cover Back: VG; the unlaminated back is clean and damage free and shows slight ring wear in places and some minor age related wear/marks showing. No writing or doodles, all text clear and legible and the flip-backs are secure.
Spine: Good; the spine is intact and has retained some of its square appearance, all text is clear and legible; just a few wrinkles in the laminate.
Corners: all bumped/knocked and rounded off.
Summary: This is a fab RnB album and quite elusive – this copy is not at its best; however, I have described it accurately and it is a very playable copy in VG condition. I’ve owned and cherished this for many years and I know the new owner will be pleased with it.
Postage With regard to postage, all records are posted in 12” Defenda corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me. Finally, I offer a no-nonsense refund if you’re not delighted with your purchase, less postage of course, which hopefully provides you with sufficient confidence to take a shot, and if you do, good luck.
