Description

December 4 1956 was a big day in the Carl Perkins back story . He spent the morning at 706 Union Avenue with Sam Philips & a new 21 year old session piano player named Jerry Lee Lewis . Joined by his brothers in their usual band roles they jammed a boogie woogie riff then added a few old blues lyrics to write & record Matchbox .. destined to become a rockabilly standard . The Beatles loved it . So much so that it became part of their live set & eventual recordings . After lunch Carl & Jerry were joined by Johnny Cash & later Elvis who popped by with his latest girlfriend . The Million Dollar Quartet were in business . Released in February 1957 as the B side to ‘ Your True Love ‘ the record eventually commanded sufficient regional sales to break into the national Billboard charts albeit only at number 67 . Not to many original copies around in this condition [ probably mint by Record Collector's guidelines ] but here is the chance to add one to your collection .
