Description

Artist : ORIONS EXPRESS

Title: Same

Label:  Round Mound of Sound 1001 (1975)

Rare Private press LP of mid 70s jam band who at times sound like a harder edged Grateful Dead. The Orion Express offers up a decent set of original material and covers. There's some nice guitar on tracks like 'Gotta Get the First Plane Home' and a cover of Steve Miller's 'Mercury Blues'. The general feeling is of competent (and occasionally quite talented) bar band who have a penchant for bluesy material such as "Down the Rail" and "Hard Goin' Down". The vocalist has a decent voice and he injects more enthusiasm into the material than most similar acts. The same is true for the rest of the band - they were probably a pretty good live act. (Thanks to the Acid Archives).

I am not a professional dealer; just trying to finance my vinyl habit by selling what I dont want to keep.  I try my best to grade these honestly under bright light and most of the time after a recent spin.  Cover is still in shrink and rates an EX, the vinyl a VG++ as it is not the best pressing but otherwise an EX. Graded according to Record Collector Grading System (please see below for details)

Thanks to Record Collector Magazine for use of this Grading scale. I use the symbols (+/-) or (++) in some cases to enhance detail.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
