Description

Original Fonit pressing (LPX 14) from Italy from 1972. Lovely copy of this Italian original gatefold issue. Music is a hard-edged prog rock space-out. Very complex and intricately played throughout. Guitar work is super extraordinary, and has to heard to be believed! Cover has a great texture to it ... way cool!
A spendid rock progressive concept-album featuring 10 bands mainly characterized by a riff extremely aggressive with the alternation of symphonic sonorities. Vocals in English. Highly Essential and Very Rare.

The record is very good and the textured gatefold cover is very good++ (on the inside of the cover writing and a fixed tear).

This is the Milano Calibro 9 soundtrack by Italian prog-rockers Osanna & prolific soundtrack composer/arranger Luis E. Bacalov.
Shortly after the release of their first LP (L'uomo) in 1971, Osanna were asked to provide the soundtrack to Fernando Di Leo's Italian crime ('Poliziotteschi') movie Milano Calibro 9. An Italian film-noir, starring Gastone Moschin, Barbara Bouchet, Mario Adorf, Philippe Leroy, Lionel Stander, directed by Fernando Di Leo.

Working closely with Luis E. Bacalov, who composed three of the tracks and provided the orchestral arrangements for the whole soundtrack, Osanna performed and recorded the music live to the final cut of the movie in the Fonorama Studios in Rome. After recording the music for the movie, they then went to a recording studio in Milan and recorded the music again for the LP release which was titled Milano Calibro 9: Preludio, Tema, Variazioni e Canzona.

Osanna are : Lello Brandi, bass - Elio D'Anna, alto and tenor sax, flute, vocals - Massimo Guarino, drums, vibes, percussion, vocals - Danilo Rustici, acoustic and electric guitar, vocals - Lino Vairetti, synthesizer, vocals.
