Animalympics (SP-4810) is more than just a soundtrack; it’s a high-concept project by Graham Gouldman, the bassist and co-songwriter of the legendary art-pop band 10cc.
The Movie: Animalympics (1980)

The Story: Directed by Steven Lisberger (who went on to direct TRON), this animated feature is a parody of the Olympic Games. It features anthropomorphic animals competing in various events, presented as a live broadcast on the "Z.O.O." network.

The Voice Cast: It features an incredible "pre-fame" comedic cast, including Billy Crystal, Gilda Radner, and Harry Shearer.

The History: Originally intended as two specials for NBC's 1980 Olympics coverage, the project was derailed by the US boycott of the Moscow Summer Games. As a result, the film never got a proper theatrical run in the US, cementing its status as a "lost" cult gem.
The Music: Graham Gouldman (10cc)
Because 10cc was famous for their lush, clever, and high-fidelity production, Gouldman brought that same "studio wizardry" to this soundtrack. The music blends Power Pop, Disco, and Synth-pop.

Standout Track: "Bionic Boar" is a fan favorite for its heavy use of early 80s synthesizers, while "Go For It" sounds like a classic 10cc radio hit that never was.
