The Movie: Body Heat (1981)

Written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan in his directorial debut, Body Heat is the definitive "neo-noir" erotic thriller. It famously revitalized the dark, cynical tropes of 1940s film noir (like Double Indemnity) for a modern, color-saturated era.

The soundtrack for Body Heat is one of John Barry’s most iconic works, released on Label X (Catalog # LXSE 1-002). It is a masterclass in atmospheric jazz-noir.

  • Audiophile Status: This specific LXSE 1-002 pressing is an Audiophile Special Edition. It was mastered by Joe Gastwirt at the JVC Cutting Center and pressed on 45 RPM "Pure Virgin Vinyl" for superior sound fidelity. Because of this, it is considered the best-sounding version of the score available on vinyl.
