OUT OF DARKNESS Same (Key UK 1970) Orig Heavy Psych Prog


Knowing nothing much about Out Of Darkness, I imagine them to have been dedicated acid fried psychedelic voyagers. And like many who tripped through the LSD looking glass, they searched for greater meaning when they came out the other side and crash-landed back into harsh reality. The spirituality is evident in the lyrics here at times, but not preachy or overbearing. Musically this is full-on Hendrix inspired heavy guitar psychedelic rock and this pioneering multi-ethnic outfit shook the scene for a brief period back then, whatever your beliefs might have been. There is also a rawness here which is very appealing, giving the music an upfront almost punk feel at times. Check out the brilliant 'Closing In On Me' and 'There You See a Stranger' (I've uploaded both to Youtube from this copy, search: happening45 Out Of Darkness) two top notch UK heavy psych classics, but this LP is pretty consistent all through.
 


Grading

Vinyl: VG surface marks are evident and does play with some surface noise here and there, but nothing major or disturbing, no feelable scratches and generally plays very nicely. Quite a few marks around spindle holes indicating this copy has been played a fair bit.
Sleeve: VG general wear, with creases to laminate including a heavy one bottom right corner and a couple of tiny dings on the top edge. Nothing too bad, but looks its age.

Grading

M- As new, no marks of any kind whatsoever.

EX Perhaps a few featherlight whispy marks, but no scratches or deterioration in sound

VG+ Some light marks on the vinyl, but nothing that should cause clicks or pops, just occasional light surface noise.

VG Some heavier marks and maybe a few scratches that will cause some noise, but will still be a very enjoyable listen with definitely no sticks or skips or constant surface noise.

Postage within UK is £4.50 which includes 'signed for' post. We will post worldwide, but records must be sent fully insured and to be 'signed for'.This will be £12 for within the European Union and £15 for the rest of the world.
