Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>  Filled with blues psych raw energy = Toad achievement in their FIRST album, released in 1971 <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Recorded at the legendary De Lane Lea Studios in London,
a hotspot for rock legends of the time. Toad, consisting of members Vittorio "Vic" Vergeat on guitar, Werner Fröhlich on bass, and Cosimo Lampis on drums, bringing a unique blend of scorching hard rock and blues, both innovative and electrifying.

TOAD was a product of its time, capturing the spirit of the early '70s scorching rock showcasing early Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin influences.
  1. "Toad" was a fascinating exploration of heaviness, featuring tracks ranging from high-energy rock anthems to blues-infused dreaminess.

Toad was formed in Switzerland in 1970 by former BRAINTICKET members Werner Fröhlich (bass) and Cosimo Lampis (drums), as well as Vic Vergeat (guitar), and Beni Jaeger (vocals) who left the band after their debut album was recorded
  2. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
  3. “Toad” has strong variety between tracks: the feel of the songs ranges from dreamy pieces to mostly full blown heavy-psychedelic blues-rock jams
  4. With only seven songs, it’s surprising how dynamic the album is. Tracks one and five, 'Cotton Wood Hill' and 'Life Goes On,' stand out as essential shredding jams from the late 1960’s, real heavy, dynamic, and well over eight minutes long each.

While each of the musicians are very talented, Fröhlich and Vergeat show off their skills the most throughout the album. Fröhlich’s bass parts are incredibly in-your-face, with a massive low end and lots of rich overdrive throughout complex and fast-paced basslines, most notably on the tracks 'Cottonwood Hill' and 'Tank.' Vergeat’s guitar work is also spectacular, with his play-style in both the lead and rhythms being very reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix yet completely unique in its own right with a treble-heavy sound that doesn’t disappear behind any of the other instruments. Sinnister Tony Iommi/Black Sabbbath styled guitar leads erupt , Jimmy Page chuncky rhythms & sizzling lead breaks burn
  5. Toad is a true work of art as far as rock albums opening the 1970 era, and a must-listen/have for any fan of top level hard rock. Between the excellent instrumentation and sound engineering courtesy of Martin Birch, best known for his work with the heavies, MKII Deep Purple, Jeff Beck Group, and later on Iron Maiden.
  6. It’s a shame that this album never gained much attention outside of  Switzerland. Overall, Toad’s debut album is deserving of a 9/10 rating.
  7. An album that smacks you in the face with unapologetic HEAVY ~~ "Pig's Walk" is absolutely vicious!!
