By the second Ozzy Osbourne tour, to promote his second album 'Diary of a Madman', and though his third tour, for the live album 'Speak of the Devil', an actor named John Edward Allen was a part of the performance. He was a little person, and wore goulish face paint. Ozzy even referred to him as "Little Ronnie", as Ronnie James Dio was in Black Sabbath, and the two acts (Ozzy and Sabbath) were now competing with each other. Ozzy would say things about Dio in the press, and Dio would say things about Ozzy. Dio was just a bit short, so Ozzy messed with him about that...

Ozzy and his band played several dates on the 'Diary' tour. Randy Rhoads lost his life while on that tour, and they took a few weeks off, then continued with guitarist Bernie Tormé. Tormé was replaced by Brad Gillis, who later joined Night Ranger. The very last stop of that tour was in New Orleans, and they played Dallas the night before. Ozzy shaved his head bald in Dallas, and Sharon had to find him a wig. In New Orleans, he came out with a wig and a bandana, as the music started, and everyone screamed. He snatched the wig off, and we all were stunned into silence. When he screamed "don't you f@&$ing know how I am?", we are knew that voice and began screaming again. And from what I remember, it was an amazing concert! (This was a VERY long time ago, and I was barely a teenager.)

Today we go back in time, and we feature the first live Ozzy album, the second studio album, and a classic rock magazine, and all three items are tied together. First up is a copy of 'Speak of the Devil', from 1983. Now it's in rough shape, so selling for the artwork only. It's two vinyl records and they are both pretty scratched up. The cover has a good amount of wear, and handwriting on his chest next to the blue tattoo. (People wrote their names on album covers a lot in those days.) Generic white paper inner sleeves. But the gatefold pic is in fantastic shape! And the pic is Ozzy and John Edward Allen (who passed away in 1999. RIP). This would look great in a frame and hanging on the wall! And that pic would be used a few more times...

Such as the cover of the January 1983 issue of 'Hit Parader' magazine! This is dated 1/1983, so that means it was put together months before, and probably sold in October, November, and December of '82. Before the 'Speak of the Devil' album was even released! The Ozzy feature in this one is only about how he made the number one spot in the 'Hit Parader' Rock Act in America poll. Check out the rest of that list, as it's all over the place! But cool cover, and the pic of Ozzy and Little Ronnie would be used in the gatefold of the live album. Magazine is in pretty good condition (for something that's over FORTY years old!), and even the REO Speedwagon centerfold is still intact!

And I'll throw in a 'Diary of a Madman' early first edition vinyl copy. This too has vinyl that is badly scratched, so selling for the artwork. This cover, however, is in really bad condition. A little light handwriting on the front cover and the edges and spine are very tattered. But honestly, it looks like it's SUPPOSED to be that way! The inner sleeve has split into two, but is still mostly intact. They even use Randy's full name (Randall Rhoads) and lots of strange writing that I have no idea what it says...

(RIP Ozzy, and thanks for the music. You kept us thoroughly entertained through SIX different decades, and you leave behind an amazing legacy of great music that we'll cherish forever. We hope that Sharon, Jack, Aimee, Kelly, and the rest of your extensive family can carry on without you. We wish them all the love in the world. See you on the other side. You are missed!)
