In 1981, a rock radio station in LA held a contest. The winners of that contest received a very cool giveaway from the station. And it was an awesome 12" picture disc of the "Mr. Crowley Live" EP! Only a VERY LIMITED numbers of these were made. And it's probably either 50 or 100 copies (maybe more, but I doubt it).
It's the same tracklisting as the well known commercial release. That one took artwork similar to the 'Diary of a Madman' album cover. And it came in a die-cut sleeve. This one originally came in generic PVC jacket, with a hype sticker, telling you what's on here. (The original jacket for this rare and scarce collectible is, unfortunately, no longer available.) I've added a pic of the tracklisting so you can see what songs are on here, plus another pic with matrix numbers. And the matrix numbers are the same!
Same pic on both sides. It's a young Ozzy, and his fringe jacket with shiny accents. Just kind of standing there, and looking cool. The three tracks are all live. One, of course, is the track "Mr. Crowley", and the B sides songs are "You Said It All" and "Suicide Solution". The track "You Said It All" was first released on the 1980 EP titled 'Ozzy Osbourne Live EP', and all three of these songs come from that EP.
*Interesting note. The official title of the more common 12" picture disc release is "Live Mr. Crowley". This one is called "Mr. Crowley (Live Version)". Maybe to differentiate between the two? The standard black vinyl edition is titled 'Ozzy Osbourne Live EP'.
The vinyl itself has plenty of light scratches and surface marks, on both sides. Noticable only when looking at it close. The colors are still bright, and this one looks really good. I've seen them go for big bucks, and that's because of how rare it is. It's a sweet vintage Ozzy vinyl collectible picture disc, available now, and for a really nice price!
(RIP Randy Rhoads and Kee Kerslake. You two guys were amazing musicians, and helped make the Blizzard of Ozz one of the most influential and best loved 80s metal bands. You are both missed!)
