A great release for us vinyl fanatics that didn't buy the "Diary" 2cd Legacy Edition. It would be nice to have the date for this gig other than 1981 "Blizzard of Ozz" tour, but regardless it's a killer performance, the band are absolutely smoking throughout! Randy fans will love this because his playing is stellar, and the duo of Sarzo and Aldridge is formidable on this night, Aldridge showcasing what a monster on the drums he is! They perform tracks from what Ozzy describes as "our forthcoming album" which would be "Diary of a Madman", and in my opinion every rendition is about as good as you're likely to hear, even Ozzy's voice sounds good! Definitely a great release on vinyl, but it would be interesting to hear what "sweetening" of the recording was done.

Remember what a big deal it was when Ozzy released the Randy Rhoads Tribute album? Well, I do. For years fans had been clamoring for live material from the Blizzard of Ozz era. Tribute was unexpectedly released in 1987, five years after Randy's tragic passing. The album under review here is essentially Volume 2 of Ozzy's Randy Rhoads Tribute album. What's so amazing, Ozzy Live was released without much fanfare. Oh yeah, another remaster with some bonus material, is essentially how the CD copy hit the streets (or man caves). This vinyl edition is an absolute must for any hard rock & heavy metal LP fan. It's an absolute joy to listen to. The band is on fire. Diehards will probably be familiar with this recording from bootlegs. I read something about it in Rudy Sarzo's memoirs. Well, here it is. You can hear the bass. You hear Randy's guitar up front. The recording sounds more direct than Tribute. It's almost as if the Blizzard of Ozz band is playing in your room.

(b)          The records are  pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl (all RTI test pressings are audiophile-grade), which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(c)             In addition, the records are  apparently  pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)            The records are believed to come in poly-lined inner sleeves

COVER : This reference (test) pressing comes without any custom jacket, and will be shipped in the plain, generic, white, RTI-stamped sleeve (NOT SEPARATELY GRADED, BUT IN A VERY NICE CONDITION OVERALL)
