After 5 years of tour to Pelagial, THE OCEAN started recording their 8th in February 2018. Studio album that will be released in two parts in 2018 and 2020 will be published separately. Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic consists of dark, hard songs that focus on the essential core of the musical idea of ??The Ocean. The immediacy that characterizes Phanerozoic I is due to the fact that the band tested every detail of the songs live this time in the rehearsal room beforehand - a different approach than in the previous releases. In Iceland, the first tracks and drums were recorded in SIGUR ROS 'own Sundlaugin studios, the rest of the album - for example a brass section - in Berlin. Katatonia singer Jonas Renkse delivers a breathtaking performance on the 11-minute track "Devonian". However, this is very well the album of the singer Loïc Rossetti. Staps and Rossetti worked intensively, tried a variety of styles and focused on finding the best possible approach for each song. "A screaming Loïc during a tough sequence always works well, but our goal was not to always go the obvious way this time," explains Staps. The result is an album that does not pull its hardness from the surface but wins from below; not so much from the voice, but from deeper riffs, from bass and drums, from analog synths that blend with the guitars. Phanerozoikum I will be held on November sees the light of the vinyl world and comes in Trifold Cover with die cuts through several layers of cover design, supplemented by metallic colors that create a 3D effect and an embossing that mimics a stone structure. Each release of the band is an overall concept, in which the content is told about the music, the feel and the visual.
