Remember when funk had a sense of humor? Four excellent unplayed albums by the incomparable Ohio Players. Love the campy Foxy Brown-era album jackets and the band's hard core funk, Ohio-style.
PROMOS 1. SKINTIGHT, 1974 - Mercury had the peculiar habit back in the day of not outwardly marking their promo albums as such, but white labeling the vinyl ("Promotional Copy Not for Sale.") This promo is in near flawless condition -- inside, outside, gatefold, original dust jacket and, of course, the vinyl!
2. HONEY, 1975 - Everything about Skintight description applies to Honey.
NON-PROMOS 1. THE OHIO PLAYERS, 1974 - This Capitol Records release originally came out in 1969 as "Observations in Time." Capitol re-released it at the peak of the Players' success on Mercury, titling it The Ohio Players -- in later years the band abandoned "The" -- and with curiously bland cover art. Guessing both were for legal reasons, but don't know for sure. Album is sealed and nearly flawless with faint ring wear against the black background.
2. FIRE, 1974 - Unplayed non-promo with regular Mercury label. Nearly flawless -- inside, outside, gatefold, original dust jacket and the vinyl.

More about the collection: All albums in this and my other listings are from my personal collection dating back to a long-ago career in rock radio. Record sales are not my livelihood, so rather than attempt to grade them using a system in which I have no expertise, I prefer to let the photos and my honest descriptions tell the story. If they're described as unplayed, it's because I never played them and there've been no other owners. (FYI, I have many albums that were played, just haven't listed them. Most are in great condition, so if you're looking for something specific, please let me know.)
