Description
This auction is for a vinyl LP recording of Brahms’s Violin Concerto in D major, played by David Oistrakh and the French National Radio Orchestra under Otto Klemperer. There is lots of information about the work on the back of the cover. The recording is on Columbia label, and appears to have been issued in 1961.
The record plays surprisingly well – no jumps or scratches or hissing, and just very faint crackles in a couple of places that do not interrupt the music - and the cover is in good condition with only minor wear. The music is tuneful, complex and full of barely-contained passion, as if there’s more under the surface – it finally gets out in the famous third movement. It is a beautiful interpretation by experts!

We will of course pack everything as carefully as we can in cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, newspaper, etc. You are welcome to collect if you prefer; if you're actually in the Lowestoft area we could deliver to you if you'll wait for the next available weekend.
