Description

redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This handsome 10” LP from French Columbia (SBOF 1004, French pressing, blue/silver label – ED1, stereo) features the Oistrakh Trio’s magnificent account of Beethoven’s “Triple” Concerto in C Major Op. 56 with soloists David Oistrakh (violin), Sviatoslav Knushevitsky (cello), and Lev Oborin (piano). They were accompanied on this memorable occasion by conductor Sir Malcolm Sargent and the Philharmonia Orchestra in a vivid recording set down at EMI Studio No. 1, Abbey Road, London, on 4 May 1958.

The striking cover design was executed by Atelier Joubert and there are authoritative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Jean-Jacques Normand, printed in French only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is mild discoloration and aging, but really that is all. There are no bends, seamsplits owners' markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
