This beautiful LP from Melodiya (CM 02931-2, Russian pressing, blue/silver label, stereo) features legendary violinist David Oistrakh in magnificent performances of Brahms's Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Major Op. 78 and Tartini's Violin Sonata in G minor "Devil's Trill", both recorded with pianist Frida Bauer in Moscow in 1967 and sounding truly splendid here.

This is exalted playing by any measure and all those who treasure the art of the violin will find much to admire here.
Interestingly, the liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket are by Oistrakh himself, and are provided in Russian, French, and English. The memorable cover photo of Oistrakh is uncredited.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is light wear along the open edge, but really that is all – a very fine collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
